Cruising along California’s Highway 1, or Pacific Coast Highway, is known as one of the most essential road trip routes in America. This was my third time taking the scenic route between Los Angeles and San Francisco, and Big Sur is repeatedly my favorite stretch of land to break up the drive through Los Padres National Forest. Big Sur is a must-see destination, offering 75+ miles of some of the most picturesque coastal environments in the country. It is also home to the world-renowned Bixby Creek Bridge, which has inspired artists to feature it in various artworks, writings, and music throughout history since its creation in 1931.

Big Sur offers a plethora of natural beauty. Explore the parks, hike to incredible waterfalls, bask in the wonderful feeling of isolation on a rugged beach, or simply enjoy the sights on the winding drive along the cliffs. There is something for everyone in this wonderland. Get a taste of this place in this short video, and explore my past Big Sur travels here

White Sands National Monument in New Mexico is one of my favorite memories of my second drive across the country, during an indian summer. Road tripping cross country felt like a right of passage for me the first time. Both times I’ve set out for the west in tiny cars have been nothing but extraordinary journeys. However, there are times when long stretches of barren land seem never-ending. White Sands gave us an otherworldly, unexpected experience in the midst of an eight hour drive through the desert.

Arrive before the park office closes, and you can rent a sled for the day and slide down the massive sand dunes - or be a little creative, and bring your own makeshift sled (we saw garbage can lids, cardboard from boxes, and scraps of metal).

Video: Dreaming of Rainier

A few days spent in Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington

I recently set out on a road trip through the pacific northwest, and decided to stop in Mt. Rainier National Park for two (literally) breathtaking days. I say literally breathtaking because most of our time was spent at about 7,000 feet above sea level. It seemed like the views got more incredible with each step we climbed up the trails…

Driving along the sides of cliffs for 30 miles while seeing nothing but clouds and the tops of pine trees certainly got my adrenaline pumping. Towards the end of our stay, the sun peeked through the clouds and allowed us to see Paradise from almost 8,000 feet. Standing on a glacier truly puts things into perspective.
